I bought a digital blue led voltmeter on Ebay to display the voltage of my golf cart’s main battery pack. It has a red and black power in, which will be powered by a 12v deep cycle battery that runs my accessories like lights and stereo, and a white wire to measure the 48v battery pack voltage. The wiring diagram shows that you are supposed to connect the black negative wire to the negative of both the power source my 12v accessory battery and the voltage to be measured my golf cart’s 48v battery pack.

My question is- isn’t this going to cause some problems with both sets of circuits if they share the same negative? Will is casue 48v to infiltrate my 12v system and fry everything, or will it be okay since the circuit is not complete? What about the seperate charging systems they use? Will this lead to false readings by my automatic charger on either side? Right now the two circuits are completely independent of each other, and I am very hesitant to connect it as directed.

Thanks for the answer, but the voltmeter has a positive and negative to power the unit, between 5 and 30 volts. It measures voltage via the white wire to the positive on the 48v pack, but the diagram asks me to share the common negative with both the 12v negative and 48v negative- that is the question. There are three wires- red positive 12v power , black negative 12v power and 48v negative to the pack , and white test lead to measure the 48v pack positive.

The first question you should ask yourself is why. Why do you want to go from fuel injection to carb? If your car is a daily driver that is fairly stock then you are just wasting your time and money. Your gas mileage will decrease, you will lose some low end torque, you will lose some drivability, you will increase your exhaust emissions, and decrease the value of your car.

If it is a race car and you don’t care about drivability then a carb is a smart choice. Don’t get me wrong, a good well thought out carbureted combo is a very good system.
